With more and more young people in today's society wanting to embark on the world of creative industries, there has been a dramatic rise in the number of universities offering creative courses. Now we all know about the obvious art, media and photography courses, but what other courses are available to those with creative minds?
Theatre Practice (Puppetry)
Royal Central School of Speech and Drama
Despite being a vary rare and unheard of course, Puppetry is a highly competitive and over subscribed degree at the Royal Central School. Teaching involves designing, making and performing with puppets and provides students with the opportunities to work with practitioners and puppet companies.
University of the Creative Arts
The only university to offer this specialist full time course in the UK, University of the Creative Arts
provides students with prestigious teaching at the Hampton Court Palace. Units include Technical
Stitching, Interiors and Textile Art.
Bath Spa University
Aimed at comedy writers and performers, the course provides students with a hands on experience. The course covers sitcom writing, stand-up performances, freelance comedic writing and self promotion.
For those with a passion for in floristry, why not consider taking it up a notch with this Floristry course! Course modules include: The History of Floral Design, Contemporary Design and The principles of design and photography. Students also get the opportunity to work on live briefs to throughout the course to develop their portfolios.
Contemporary Circus and Physical Performance
Bath Spa University
On this degree, students study a variety of topics ranging from acrobatics to physical theatre. There is also quite a lot of theory to this fun degree which units like The philosophy of Circus and Creative Studies also being taught.
Baking Technology Management
London South Bank University
More than just a baking degree, students on this two year course are taught bakery management and business leadership skills in addition to understanding chocolate technology and sugar craft.
