6 Tips on How to get the most out of events!

1. Plan, plan, plan!

So, you've found an event that's tickled your fancy, maybe the ERIC festival? Wink, wink. It's all good planning on attending the event, but to make the most of your time at said event make sure you at least make a note of what talks or workshops you want to see. Networking and creative events can awesome, so make sure you’re ready!

2. Take a notebook

Similar to the first point, preparation for events can be super useful. Even if you're not a fan of taking notes, there's no harm in bringing a pen and pad to jot down anything noteworthy. PS it also makes you look professional, so invest in a cute notebook.

3. Don't be tied down by your phone

Ever walked into a room and seen everyone looking down at their phones? Don’t get me wrong phones can be really handy; but if you’re constantly checking your phone during an event, a really important person could walk past you and you could just miss them! It's easy to avoid networking and just play Candy Crush on your phone, but c'mon, you can do it!

4. Take all the freebies

Who doesn't love a freebie? Most events give out cheeky goodie bags or free food, like the doughnut wall at the last ERIC festival. Hmm doughnuts...

5. Write down people's names

There's nothing worse than someone telling you their name and you forgetting it seconds later. You have to do the whole 'what was your name again?' Or worse, you just never use their name. So, let's try and avoid that, shall we? Writing down people's names and their social media details after you see them is a perfect way to get your foot in the door.

6. Have fun!

Now, don't too get wrapped up in all of the things you should be doing at events. Remember to have a good time! You've been really brave going to the event, so don't forget to let your hair down a little.
