No one is a fan of fake news, we all want to know the truth. And VICE can be a great publication tool to use to educate yourself on the shit that’s really going down in the world today. But there are some publications that are shedding light on pretty incredible, real and ground breaking news too.

1. Upworthy

Upworthy is a platform with articles ranging from breakthroughs to their special feature ‘women of worth’. Similar to Vice, Upworthy has a very honest vibe with their work and believe that everyone is part of the same story.

2. Elephant Journal

For the free minded readers, this is a perfect publication for you. Elephant Journal focuses on politics and mindfulness. So, if you’re open to reading some news about meditation and other interesting stories, check it out!

3. Hello Giggles

Hello Giggles is a positive community for predominantly women-but men can get in on the fun too. They have everything you would want to read about, with segments including: news, love, fashion and lifestyle, their free daily newsletter is definitely something you don’t want to be missing out on.

4. Anti-Media

The Anti-Media is a real community of independent thinkers, that you can get involved with too. With their own voting system, Anti-Media readers can vote which stories they think should be on the front page of the website. But which sort of stories does the Anti-Media cover? This publication mainly involves politics and social activism news, so pretty relevant stuff.

5. Thought Catalog

Thought Catalog focuses on mental health, astrology and psychology. Need a daily dose of motivation and positivity? Thought Catalog is your fix. They also really care about honest storytelling, and making articles digestable for millennials without using confusing jargon that literally no one understands. Thank you Thought Catalog!
