AND WHY THE FUCK DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT?
The CIF (Creative Industries Federation) is a pretty cool company that are looking out for creatives, but who are they? In short, the Creative Industries Federation are a national organisation for all the UK’s creative industries, cultural education and arts. Sounds like a jack of all trades right?
A good way of understanding who they are is to think of the CIF as a big sister. They are here to look out for you. By being a member, they invite you to exclusive networking events where you can meet industry professionals and like-minded creatives. So that you can network with the people that will help you climb the industry ladder.
Another way that CIF is helping the underdog is by giving creatives an essential voice in government. Don’t you want to have an influence in the laws surrounding creatives? Such as the amount of support creatives can be given by the government not just financially, but through internship programmes and additional government-funded opportunities too. Well, CIF can help you get your voice heard!
Finally, being a member of CIF gives you access to a directory of more than 1000 members that you can link up with. But who are these members? Any creative company, big or small. For example, the prestigious Science Museum, one of the largest media agencies Media Com and even ERIC is a member!
So how do you join? Well, memberships start from £30 a year for under 25s so pretty cheap for the benefits you get.
